Millom Infant School

Every child a learner, we all learn together

Forest School

Our Vision:

The aim of Forest Schools is to allow the children of Millom Infant School the time and space to develop skills, interest in and understanding of nature and our local landscape. Pupils will develop their knowledge through a range of activities which provide practical, hands-on experiences in a natural environment; plant identification, bird watching, animal spotting, den building, art and team games.

Through exploration of the natural world we hope to foster the development of healthier lifestyles as the children develop a passion for being in wild spaces. It is our aim that by providing these experiences our pupils will seek to enjoy the natural world outside of school hours and learn that accessing green spaces can be of great benefit to our health and mental wellbeing.

Our time at Forest School also aims to provide a safe and non-threatening environment in which children learn to take risks, make choices, learn to challenge themselves and work collaboratively with others whilst being guided by adults.

Additional Information:

It is very important that children dress according to the weather.  A list of suitable clothing and footwear will be handed out with a consent form. There is also a charge of £1.00 per week to help cover the cost of transport to our woodland site.

If you would like to know more about these sessions, please contact Mrs J. Date who is our Forest Schools Leader.

Fabulous Forest School!
